orn in 1955 in the outskirts of Chicago, Stephen Rice now resides in Northern New Jersey with his wife Audrey. After attending college, Stephen realized that studying under established artists led to a cloning affect that was detrimental to his artistic development. He believes that strong artistic fundamentals are what's really important, along with the endless internal journey of getting close to one's emotions and uncovering one's inner worlds. Marrying these factors together leads to an exciting and provocative piece of art.

Stephen's work is born from this dynamic process. Mr. Rice's subject matter comes from his thoughts, surroundings, and emotions. The first Noble Truth of the Buddha is that there is suffering. From this concept, Stephen's unique style was developed. We are either scratching to get in or clawing our way out in a desperate attempt to find sanctuary. Mr. Rice has won many awards in shows and competitions. His work can also be found in private collections throughout the United States, Italy and Germany.
